Jessi Alexander and Megan Moroney on Co-Writing · 2025
Jessi Alexander capped 2024 with her first Grammy nomination—for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical. The honor acknowledges a year in which artists including Luke Combs, Dustin Lynch, and Megan Moroney cut songs she wrote.
In 2024 Moroney solidified her transformation from viral success story to mainstream hitmaker. Moroney's second studio album, "Am I Okay?," debuted at #9 on the all-genre "Billboard" album chart in July 2024, and includes the gold-certified single "No Caller ID," a song she co-wrote with Alexander.
Alongside fellow songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon and Connie Harrington, the pair also wrote Moroney's "Never Left Me" for the 2024 film "Twisters." Alexander and Dillon discussed their collaborations in a recent interview with "MusicRow" magazine. “It’s disheartening to see so few women in the charts,” said Dillon. “We need more artists like Megan, Kelsea, Ella, and Lainey to change the narrative,” Alexander added.
Jessi Alexander, Megan Moroney, Kelsea Ballerini, Ella Langley, and Lainey Wilson are all featured in this year's installment of the Museum exhibit "American Currents: State of the Music."
