Herb Pedersen on Meeting Bluegrass Pioneer Earl Scruggs
Earlier this year, vocalist, guitarist, and banjo player Herb Pedersen took the stage as part of the Museum's ongoing “Nashville Cats” series. The series spotlights musicians and session singers who have played important roles in country music history.
In this clip, Pedersen, a founding member of the Desert Rose Band and member of the Dillards from 1969 to 1971, recalls meeting one of his major musical influences. Watch below to hear his first impressions of bluegrass banjo pioneer and Country Music Hall of Fame member Earl Scruggs.
This program was made possible in part by the Academy of Country Music and filmed in support of the exhibit “Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock,” presented by City National Bank.
