Last month, Rosanne Cash added another historic artifact to the collection
“There’s a resonant power to this place and knowing that they’re safe here and that they will be preserved for posterity," said Rosanne Cash of the family artifacts she’s donated to the Museum’s collection. “My grandkids and their grandkids can come here and see these things and feel the connection to me, and to my dad, and to my whole family. There’s nothing like that.”
An archivist at heart, Cash has been donating her personal and family artifacts to the Museum since the 1980s. Last month, she added another historic artifact to the collection—Maybelle Carter’s Martin 2-27. Mother Maybelle gave the guitar to Johnny Cash, who gave it to Rosanne, who gave it to the Museum, where it will be held in perpetuity for future generations, continuing the unbroken circle of country music’s story.
