Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally Perform “Friends” from Their Hit Musical “Shucked”

Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally have written hit songs for Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Carly Pearce, and others, but the two songwriters enjoyed a different type of success in 2023. Clark and McAnally wrote lyrics and music for the musical "Shucked," which garnered acclaim during its Broadway run, earning glowing reviews and major awards nominations.

Ahead of the musical’s national tour stop at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center in November of 2024, Clark and McAnally; producer Mike Bosner; and Robert Horn, who wrote the musical’s book, visited the Museum to discuss its creation and success. In this clip from the program, Clark and McAnally perform the song "Friends."

Presented in support of the exhibit "American Currents: State of the Music."
