Molly Tuttle, Wyatt Ellis, and Kaitlin Butts Discuss the Significance of Stage Wear

0 views · January 8, 2026 · Things To Do

Throughout country music history, numerous artists have carefully chosen their stage wear. The Museum exhibit "American Currents: State of the Music" features an array of costumes from singers, songwriters, and musicians shaping the genre.

In 2024, acclaimed bluegrass guitarist, singer, and bandleader Molly Tuttle embarked on her "Down the Rabbit Hole Tour" with her tight-knit live band, Golden Highway. The group dressed as characters from "Alice in Wonderland" in the music video for "White Rabbit," from their 2024 EP, "Into the Wild."

Fourteen-year-old mandolin player Wyatt Ellis released his debut album "Happy Valley" in February of 2024, not long after making his Grand Ole Opry debut. Featured in "American Currents" is the outfit he wore during that performance—a plaid western shirt, H Bar C Ranchwear pants, and a belt buckle once owned by bluegrass great Jimmy Martin.

Tulsa native Kaitlin Butts gained newfound acclaim and attention in 2024 with her ambitious third studio album, "Roadrunner!" Drawing on her musical theater background, the album celebrates her love for dramatic storytelling through songs like "Wild Juanita’s Cactus Juice." Butts wore a western outfit inspired by a character from "Oklahoma!" in the music video for the song.

Follow these stories and more. The annual Museum exhibit "American Currents: State of the Music" offers a broad look at country music over the past year.
