Oh Boy Records Artist Emily Scott Robinson on John Prine’s Songwriting

In 2022, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum hosted a program entitled "The Past, Present, and Future of Oh Boy Records." The conversation and performance was a meditation on the independent label established by John Prine, now run by his family. The program featured interviews with Oh Boy Records President and Prine's wife, Fiona Whelan Prine, Oh Boy Records Director of Operations and John and Fiona's eldest son, Jody Whelan, current Oh Boy Records artist Emily Scott Robinson, and former Oh Boy Records artist R.B. Morris.

In this clip, Emily Scott Robinson performs Prine's song "Unwed Fathers," discussing the element of Prine’s songwriting she admires most. "He puts you in the life experience of somebody else," says Robinson, "I think that was just one of John's incredible strengths as a songwriter. It's something I've learned so much from."
