The British Archive of Country Music

In 2023, the Museum acquired an enormous and valuable labor of love: the British Archive of Country Music (BACM). British-born Dave Barnes began acquiring records as early as the 1930s and ‘40s and spent decades assembling the vast collection that became the BACM. In this clip, Alan Barnes describes his father's unique method for collecting and his passion for country music.

The acquisition of the BACM was made possible through a gift from the Tyson Family Foundation.
