West Coast Steel: Live at the Hall

0 views · February 23, 2023 · Things To Do

Pedal steel players JayDee Maness, Al Perkins, and Dan Dugmore join moderator Steve Fishell for a conversation about West Coast Steel in the Museum’s intimate Ford Theater. The players share stories from their lives and careers—including what it was like to record with the Byrds, play with the Flying Burrito Brothers, and tour with Linda Ronstadt—in this episode of “Live at the Hall,” made possible in part by the Academy of Country Music and filmed in support of the exhibit “Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock,” presented by City National Bank.

Steve Fishell, moderator for this event, has recorded and performed with Emmylou Harris for forty years and has also recorded with Eric Church, Reba McEntire, and Dolly Parton. Dan Dugmore is a former member of John Stewart’s and Linda Ronstadt’s touring bands and has contributed to albums by Don Henley, Jake Owen, John Prine, Kenny Rogers, James Taylor, Randy Travis, and more. Additionally, he has produced #1 singles for Radney Foster and Pam Tillis. JayDee Maness is a member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame who has played with the Byrds, Vince Gill, International Submarine Band, Buck Owens, Gram Parsons, and more. Al Perkins is a member of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame who has toured and recorded with Garth Brooks, Cher, Bob Dylan, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Dan Fogelberg, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Dolly Parton, James Taylor, and Dwight Yoakam.
